Everything in my mind came to a dead stop. Spirit had just nudged me. I realized that my dissatisfaction with the return on my achievements in recent years and the uncertainty about my future were holding me back from better experiences. They were taking over my Now, making my present less than desirable.
Even worse, they were the genesis for creating my future.
In Unity, we recognize that "thoughts produce after their kind." Yet, it is not easy to let go of our conditioning, to surrender our desire to orchestrate our future down to the last detail. In contrast, we often swing to the opposite end of the pendulum's arc, choosing to abdicate any responsibility for our part in our co-creation by saying that age-old phrase: God will provide.
So, if we are to let go but not hand everything over to God lock, stock, and barrel, then what is it that we are supposed to do? We are responsible for creating the foundation for our future. We are charged with living in the Now on the corner of Happy and Healthy. I know this sounds corny, but if you'll just open your mind for a moment, you will realize how necessary this is.
Just as Jesus taught in Mark 4 about the sower, the seeds of our future will not grow and multiply unless they are sown in good soil. We must provide the mental soil for our future before God can manifest what we say we want. God does provide. Like the farmer, he scatters the seeds, but the soil on which they fall is of our choosing.
Bottom line: Live on the corner of Happy and Healthy in the Now for it provides the richest soil for our dreams of the future.
