When life challenges you with a problem, others' sympathy (and your own) can be the worst thing that happens to you. Why would I say this? Sympathy keeps you from paying attention to your opportunities. Your discomfort is a built-in failsafe. It's the way your Higher Self lets you know when you are just hanging out rather than challenging yourself with change. There's a name for this kind of wake-up call. It's called Conscious Shock!
