How often do you find yourself feeling like you’re walking in mud - just slogging along without accomplishing anything? It could well be because you are your worst critic. I have always been my worst critic. So, I have to stay alert to not fall back into that trap.
One thing I did discover in working on the critic in me is that it causes me to look at time differently. A month is not really that much time, and most business people don’t think a month is any time at all. Their expectations of themselves tend to be allocated to 6-month or 12-month periods of time or even longer. At least that’s what I’ve noticed when working with people.
I, however, want to completely change my world within a few days. :-D Oh, I know better, but it doesn’t eliminate such wishful feelings. Perhaps being an Aries contributes to this...
Anyway, when I'm working on a project that seems to be going slowly, I’ve found that this is the time when my inner critic tries to rear its ugly head. My solution for improving my state of mind is to actually stop and review all the things that I’ve accomplished in the past month.
It is always a mind-blowing experience! You should try it even if you aren’t bogged down in a project. Realizing what you have actually accomplished gives you more confidence about your ability to reach your goals. And, that’s what we all need to succeed: self-confidence.
