Soar Like An Eagle

Sometimes in life, we allow ourselves to be trained to live and act in ways that are not authentic,  not true to who we are. You may remember the story "From A Chicken To An Eagle" written by Jerry Fankhauser in 1982. This story was about an eagle who had been raised with chickens and had never learned to fly. It took quite a bit of coaxing for the eagle to let go of the idea that he should follow the path of a chicken - grounded, eating chicken feed. Once he let that erroneous idea go, he soared like the eagle that he always was.

What about us? Do we believe all that we declare we do? What motivates us? Is it fear, anger, guilt, or is it love, freedom, joy, and peace? Do we look outside ourselves for something that will make us feel secure, happy, or worthy? Or do we recognize that all that we desire resides within us as a child of God?

There are so many perspectives that can change our lives. Knowing that we are spiritual beings, that we are Mind and Spirit, not just this body we carry with us, is an important step. Still, because each of us is dealing with our personal journey on this planet of lesson, we may find it difficult to get our minds around the daunting idea that we are all One. That's okay. If we just keep revisiting the idea, one day each of us will experience that powerful moment when it vibrates throughout our being, changing our lives forever as we, too, soar like the piece of God that we are!

All The World's A Stage

Spiritual growth is not linear. It is cyclical. Becoming more spiritually aware, you are in an uptrend, so to speak, but it has its setbacks. There are many moments when, despite what we know, we act in opposition to what we know. This is just part of the process of transforming our knowledge into understanding. It isn't a one-time event either. Sometimes we respond to life circumstances with keen awareness. Then the next time we fail to be mindful. That's okay because as my husband loves to say, "Earth is the planet of lesson." As long as we don't continue to be oblivious of the spiritual learning curve that is our journey, our setbacks will be short-lived.

Shakespeare wrote: "All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts..." This is true in our individual journeys and in the journey of the human race. As humans, we often accept knowledge as the goal and fail to assimilate it beyond our intellectual center into the emotional and moving centers from which it can morph into understanding. If we observe knowledge from all sides, that is, think about what we think we know, we awaken the Emotional Center. We can begin to experience emotions that are not our usual fare. It enables us to step outside what we've accepted as our truth into a new understanding...

The Path We Must Follow As A Nation

It is believed that Earth is the planet of lesson. It provides opportunities each of us as individuals and collectively as a nation have to experience and learn from our experiences.

"You are in this human experience to wake up— to acknowledge your divinity, your creative birthright. We are on this Earth because each of us desired to participate in this creative expression of Spirit. Love acts on this dominant desire to bring us into the human experience from the non-physical. The dominant condition of this human experience is a belief in the duality – a belief in separation. Separation from God, from others. This is the dream we are trying to wake up from." *

As members of this nation, we must accept our spiritual purpose. We must be willing to wake up and learn from the challenges that confront us. We must also accept that lessons will return to us  if we fail to learn from them. Engaging in the work of spiritual change as a nation requires that we step back and review the progress we've made as a nation, no matter how slow it may have been.

What were the lessons offered throughout those timelines that brought us to where we are today? In reviewing these past experiences, ask:  Did the solutions focus on a belief in the world's answers or God's? Were the Principles at the core of the answers chosen? If not, can we see how it could have been handled in a more creative manner, trusting Spirit to guide our hands to separate the wheat from the chaff with our highest interests in mind?

If you can see a recurring, unhealthy pattern across time or a movement to return to negative times from the past, then that is the wake-up call. It is shouting that there are lessons to be addressed, different ways of being to be embraced. Will it be easy? No. Change rarely is. However, it is the reason for our participation as citizens of our nation.  It requires personal sacrifice because it means putting the well-being of the country above our individual aspirations. Ironically, doing so will align each of us with our highest good.

Turning Back From The Abyss

Einstein said, "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."

This is the thinking that originally spurred me toward participating in the election process in the only way available to me other than voting, which was Facebook. As is my right, I saw, and still do see, Donald Trump as a dangerous and unstable human being, who does not have the qualifications or the temperament to hold the highest office in this country and represent us around the world.

During the campaigning, the teacher in me felt compelled to use my social media timelines as a platform to display information from outside sources that those who do not like to do research might fail to see and/or read. Unfortunately, the vitriol being displayed on social media, which shouldn't have surprised me, started to seep into my own nature. Upon analyzing my own reactions to these vile comments, I realized that my lifelong aversion to bullies was driving me to stop Trump and to react to such bullying by others on Facebook. At first I simply began by deleting such things from my personal timeline and refrained from getting involved in most, but sadly not all, threads, but that wasn't enough.

Now that the election is over, to be clear, I have not changed my mind about my analysis of Trump. He is definitely a user. However, I pulled myself back to an old proverb that I have applied in other environments many times over the years: A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. With that in mind, I realized that I had done all I could in the social media arena, my most important contribution being that I voted for the person I felt would have safeguarded the future of all Americans.

As a person who believes strongly in the impact of vibrational energy, I cannot and will not let Trump and those in the political arena who are willing to take down this nation for the sake of their personal power taint my consciousness so badly that my energy unwittingly supports their cause. Therefore, I choose to return my energies to my chosen focus, writing on spiritual psychology and my novels, rather than rehashing the campaign or the past. I will stay vigilant as I mentioned in my last post. However, I must stay on the high road where my vibration can add to that of others to lift our nation upward.  We must begin to fight for the values we want for America, not invest all our energies into fighting against the values we don't want. Fighting against those values is exactly how that level of energy grew during the last year and a half until it developed enough strength to win out in the election. We cannot continue along that same path and expect different results. That would be insane.

Turning America Around

Recent times have brought out the worst in many of us, despite the best efforts of some to center ourselves. Why is this the case? The bottom line for everyone, regardless of which side of the fence you're on, has been fear. The prevalent fear is centered around the threat of loss.

For some, their choices are based on the fear of continued lack and the wild chance of gaining what they feel they're owed by the world. For some, their choices are based on the fear of losing basic values they have always regarded as the glue that holds our society together. For some, their choices revolve around the fear that extreme solutions will lead to extreme consequences for everyone. For others, the focus on the concept of what's in it for me in lieu of a concern for the country as a whole has sparked fear in their guts. Many fear the demise of the America for which they have always felt a strong sense of pride is being muddied by the recent negative, vitriolic histrionics being treated as acceptable behavior. Some fear that accepting that others may worship as they choose somehow diminishes their own faith.

No matter your political preference in recent times, we are all guilty of contributing to this melodrama, either through outward behavior or emotional attitude. At this point in time, ...

Conflict could be lessened considerably if people took the time to assess their own perspective before judging what others say. Why? Because if you don't, you are coloring everything you're reading or hearing with your own expectations.~ Dannye Williamsen
